Background
Two representatives from WJ Groundwater Ltd attended one of Develop Training's MaTE seminars during the first quarter of 2010. At this seminar the client recognised that this programme would suit their Supervisory team and would equip them with the skills and confidence they needed to Supervise others successfully. During a subsequent meeting the benefits of the MaTE programme were discussed for both Managers and Supervisors, it was recognised that the organisations Supervisors were all "off the tools" and although technically competent needed support to develop the skills of managing people. Whilst the Management team were all highly skilled in the engineering and technical areas, they too needed development in understanding and developing their teams using a coaching approach to management to encourage others to take ownership. WJG engaged Develop to deliver two MaTE programmes - one for Managers and one for Supervisors.
How We Worked Together with the Client on the Projects
Develop Training Ltd's Behavioural Training Consultant spent time on-site understanding the job roles and responsibilities of both the Management and Supervisory teams. The MaTE programme template was then made bespoke to suit the needs of the client. Scenarios were written for the real-play sessions with individual delegates in mind so a truly bespoke programme was produced using topics, themes, job roles and environments relevant to course attendees. By working together we were able to produce a MaTE programme specific and relevant to the issues and needs the client was facing.

Post Learning Measurement
"The reaction from everyone on the course was that it was excellent with statements like 'enlightening' and 'revolutionary', and our Contracts Director stated that we had intended this program mainly for our supervisors but the benefits for us as Managers are potentially immense.
The course met my expectations. I had no doubts it was going to brilliant, and it was." Steve Cooke, Safety Advisor.
